Leadership

One of the key things a leader does is to implement procedures, processes, goals, objectives, mission statements, vision statements by getting alignment up and down the organization and measuring continuously to compare results with the strategy set in place.  Getting to be #1 at anything is difficult: being #1 in the nation in football like the UofO is amazing.

Another example is NE Portland Concordia University is #1 in the number of students participating in community service, as well as the number of service hours performed, both relative to school size.

Both of these accomplishments required sustained leadership over time to align individual results with the overall strategy for the organization.

Leadership

The same lack of leadership teaching English as a second language is also rooted in the math education.
Instead of teaching calculating schools should be teaching real world problem analysis, methods of converting problems to math formulas, then let the computer do the calculating, convert the results back into real world descriptions and finally verify and validate the results.  Just like we do in the real world.

Leadership

Learning English in PPS, Maybe
Great case study in lack of leadership and the consequences.
Example of how lack of leadership can go on for decades.
